This new riding was originally half of the Delta-Richmond East area, and now only includes Steveston and all areas of Richmond east of No. 3 Road, No. 4 Road and Highway 99.
Traditionally Conservative, this seat was held by former provincial Conservative Party leader Jon Cummins from 1993-2011. It was then won by Conservative Kerry-Lynne Findlay in 2011, beating out NDP candidate Nic Slater by 31 percent.
Peschisolido began his career with the Reform party in 1993, and was first elected in Richmond in 2002. He crossed the floor to join the Liberals in 2002, but did not run again in 2004 and was succeeded by Raymond Chan.
