Hurricane Oho passed through Hawaii Wednesday, and while it’s expected to die down over the next 48 hours, it could mean serious rain for B.C. this long weekend.
It won’t be too bad Wednesday and Thursday, and Global BC meteorologist Kate Gajdosik says Oho will resemble more of a tropical storm by the time it hits our coast.
“We will also see very strong winds and rain, which will be very heavy at times for the south coast on our Friday, but we will certainly not see the moisture they’ll get on the north and central coast.”
Fifty-five to 75 millimetres of rain are expected in the Lower Mainland between Friday and Saturday.
Gajdosik says she won’t be surprised if a rain warning gets issued at some point on Thursday.
