The Conservative party has cut ties with a Toronto-area candidate who wrote an editorial supporting gay conversion therapy.
Jadgish Grewal was running for the Tories in Mississauga-Malton. The party now confirms he is no longer its official candidate.
The online article in the Punjab Post is called “Is it wrong for homosexuals to become normal?”
Roughly translated by CKNW, he writes, “Psychologists say a shock can cause a child to display homosexual tendencies, but given treatment, it can be corrected.”
In a Tweet, NDP Leader Tom Mulcair says “the homophobic statements from the CPC candidate in Mississauga-Malton are unacceptable and Stephen Harper must remove him immediately.”
