A ball-and-chain wearing groom has been ordered to pay more than half a million dollars, after pushing a man who made fun of him.
Joshua Robinson, who was nineteen at the time, suffered a traumatic brain injury, after he was shoved by Leelund Turner , at Bud’s Bar in Invermere five years ago.
Turner was there for his bachelor party, wearing pink tights, a feather boa and ball and chain.
Around 2am, a drunken Robinson made fun of Turner’s attire, and told him that his life was over, presumably referring to the upcoming nuptials, which prompted the attack.
Turner argued he was defending himself against a stranger, but a BC judge has ordered him to pay more than $500,000 in damages.
That includes a 30 % reduction, because the judge found Robinson partially responsible given the provocation.
