On the heels of yet another failure by B.C.’s Ministry of Children and Family Development, the head of the Official Opposition says Stephanie Cadieux has to go.
John Horgan spoke with CKNW’s Drex, saying the minister has made too many costly mistakes.
“I think we are at a point where certainly if Mrs. Clark, the Premier, doesn’t have the good sense to tell Mrs. Cadieux she should be doing something else, Mrs. Cadieux should have the decency to step aside.”
The latest failure involves 18-year-old Alex Gervais, who fell to his death last Friday from the window of an Abbotsford hotel. He was living there while in government care, after the minister had promised youth would no longer be kept long-term in hotels.
Cadieux has also been criticized for the case of Paige, a 19-year-old girl who aged out of government care with proper support and died a few months later of a drug overdose on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
