One of Vancouver’s main political parties has apologized for allegations made in the heat of election battle.
The NPA and its failed mayoral candidate, Kirk LaPointe, have issued a retraction and apologized to Mayor Gregor Robertson and Councillor Geoff Meggs after accusing the pair of conflict of interest last fall.
The actions come months after a B.C. Supreme Court judge tossed out a lawsuit containing the allegations, saying there was nothing wrong with a CUPE campaign contribution to Robertson, Meggs and Vision Vancouver.
As part of the settlement, LaPointe and NPA will pay part of Vision’s legal bill.
