People wanting to make sure the organic food they’re buying is actually organic can look forward to new provincial requirements.
The new rules don’t kick in until 2018, but when they do, all products labelled organic will have to be certified.
This will apply to those who produce, process or handle organic food and drinks.
Certification will have to come from a national or provincial body.
The government says this move comes after consulting with industry members in BC, with nearly eighty percent supporting this kind of move.
