A woman and her young child were woken up by someone breaking into their East Vancouver home early Monday morning.
Police say a man climbed in through the window of a house near Grandview Park around 5 a.m.
The woman, who was asleep with her child, woke up and started struggling with the intruder.
She screamed for him to get out of her house, which brought a relative out of another room, who joined in the altercation.
The suspect fled through the yard and was last seen running south between the houses.
A man seen running south on Commercial at 4th about 25 minutes later could be related to the attack.
Police say he’s described as acting panicked, banging on a car window, and yelling at the driver that he needed a ride before approaching a bus and doing the same.
Anyone who has information is asked to call the VPD.
