Tearful words from Hailey’s mother.
20-year-old Cheyenne Dunbar says her daughter Hailey was the best daughter parents could ask for and that Hailey’s father was a great dad.
“Beautiful the greatest child ever, she never cried…she was absolutely perfect. Terry was an awesome father, he did everything he could for that little girl.”
The RCMP say the man accused of murdering 2-year-old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette and her father Terry Blanchette, was an acquaintance of the toddler’s dad.
Superintendent Tony Hamori says 22-year-old Derek Saretzky is charged with two counts of first degree murder, and one count of indignity to a human body, which was Hailey’s.
“Now that Mr. Saretzky has been charged our first priority is to protect the integrity of the investigation to date, and to insure he receives a fair trial. For this reason, the RCMP has limited ability to discuss any of the details.”
Hailey’s body was discovered in a rural area near Blairmore, Alberta yesterday, ending a 29-hour Amber Alert that spanned BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the state of Montana.
Mounties say the white van wanted in connection to her abduction has been located. Saretzky will be back in court on September 23rd in Lethbridge, Alberta.
The body of Hailey’s father, Terry Blanchette, was found in his home on Monday morning, and shortly thereafter Alberta RCMP issued the first Amber Alert.
On Tuesday night Alberta RCMP confirmed that Hailey’s remains had been found .
“The body was located during a police search based on information received by investigators in their efforts to locate Hailey. The location of the discovery has been secured and investigators are now working to process the scene. Hailey’s family has been notified, and we extend our deepest condolences to the family for their loss of Hailey, and also for the loss of her father Terry.”

Victims services officials announced the discovery during a candlelight vigil for the little girl Tuesday night. People immediately broke down in grief, their worst fears confirmed.
