“At this point in time, there’s eight families completely displaced, likely permanently.”
That’s the reality for eight families in Pitt Meadows this morning.
A fire ripped through their town house complex, destroying several homes.
The fire at the coop complex near Harris Road and 119th Avenue was noticed around 7:15 yesterday evening.
“In total, there’s five that are complete losses out of eight units, four of them were already well underway by the time we even arrived”
On this Labour Day, these families face a new reality, starting the unofficial beginning of Fall of without a home.
Pitt Meadows Fire Chief Don Jolly says the fire was so large, they brought in crews from Maple Ridge to help.
“We have four trucks, two Chiefs from Pitt Meadows, and three trucks and two Chiefs from Maple Ridge.”
There were reports the fire was started by a vehicle or in one of the garages, but Jolly couldn’t confirm that, saying the cause was still under investigation.
