US fire officials say there is little threat at this point that the 195-square-kilometre Stickpin fire burning in Washington State will jump the border.
Fire Information Officer with the Kettle Complex, Koshare Eagle, says crews are making good progress on the fire, burning five kilometers south of the border, because forecasted winds over the northend never transpired.
She says there isn’t a big concern at this point that the fire will cross into B.C.
“We are expecting windy conditions the next couple of days. however, the incident management team managing the fire has not expressed that in particular as a concern.”
Roughly 1,600 people in Grand Forks and Christina Lake remain on evacuation alert.
