The BC Coroners Service has confirmed a body found in the Juan de Fuca Strait is that of Timothy Chu.
The British police officer failed to surface during a July 5 scuba dive in the area. He was last seen removing his weight belt.
The search was called off when searchers came up with nothing, and his family pleaded for them to continue, even offering a $2,000 reward.
Against all odds, they hoped the 28-year-old former member of the British army was strong enough to somehow survive.
But his body was found near Race Rocks last Sunday. A fisherman spotted the remains off a buoy.
