After two years on the sidelines and finally getting to hit the skies again, the Martin Mars bomber is taking a break.
The water bomber’s owner, Wayne Coulson, says one of their crew has a health problem and they’ve asked for a temporary break in their contract.
He says they hadn’t planned to train any additional staff this season, but now, they will, and should be back in a few days.
The contract costs B.C. $6,000 an hour, plus fuel costs, to fight wildfires, and $15,000 a day for standing by.
The contract lasts until August 21.
