A family dog in Surrey is set to be put down tonight after it attacked a young girl on Friday.
The dog’s owners have agreed to put it down.
“The incident did occur on private property, so the dog was in its yard at the time of the incident.”
Surrey Bylaw Operations Manager Kim Marosevich says she is not sure how the girl is doing after the attack.
“So she was over at a friend’s place, from what I understand at this point, at a friend’s place playing when the incident occurred.”
The dog involved in the attack is a Dogo Argentino.
This type of dog was previously bred for big game hunting, and can weigh up to 100 pounds.
