Police say a deadly head-on collision on Highway One near Chase appears to have been caused by a car drifting across the centre line.
One man is dead after the car he was driving apparently drifted into oncoming traffic – colliding with a Wescan tour bus carrying 60 foreign tourists.
Chase RCMP constable Brian Blaikie says nearly two dozen of them were hurt.
“There’s been 20 people transported to the Royal Inland Hospital. The injuries involved in the people in the private charter are all minor with the exception of the driver, he was stretchered off the scene.”
It’s the third crash involving a tour bus in B.C.’s interior in about a year.
Earlier this month after another collision on the Coquihalla, the Ministry of Transportation announced a review into the industry.
The highway re-opened about six hours after the crash in both directions at Hoffman’s Bluff after a lengthy investigation.
