The Ombudsperson says he WILL have the power to get to the bottom of the Health Ministry firings scandal – what exactly happened, and why did it happen.
“Including events leading up to the decision to terminate the employees, the decision to terminate itself, the actions taken by government following the terminations and any other matters they deem worthy of investigation.”
Speaking on The Jon McComb Show on CKNW, Jay Chalke says he can force people to testify.
“We have, in the context of this referral that previous investigations haven’t necessarily had, and that’s we do have the ability to require people to speak with us and to produce documents.”
The seven researchers fired and the sister of the 8th who committed suicide have said only a full public inquiry will get the fundamental answers they seek.
