A Victoria urologist has been handed a six month suspension and a $20,000 fine, after admitting he took a picture of an unconscious patient’s catheter area without that patient’s consent, and then sending that image out.
Dr. John Francis Joseph David Kinahan admitted he sent that photograph by text to a third party, along with a joke.
Earlier media reports indicate the patient involved was obese, and the incident took place at Royal Jubilee Hospital.
That other person was not involved in the patient’s care.
Kinahan must also participate in ethics training.
