Family members and friends are holding a memorial in South Surrey to honour a father who died while trying to protect his family.
Colin Hill is remembered as a hero — he was shot and killed earlier this month, protecting his family during a break-in at their Cloverdale home.
The forty-two years old was a popular real estate agent and father of two children.
One friend says the slain Surrey realtor recently re-evaluated life, and chose to put his family first.
Lowell Jordan says it was just a few years ago that Hill — like many of us — put work first.
“He basically worked like every day, seven days a week, like 24 hours a day. But after his daughter was born, he made a transformation.”
It’s a reminder to pay attention to what matters the most.
“In the last few years he kinda rearranged the schedule, and revolved everything around the family.”
Jordan says he knows his friend would want others to make efforts to refocus as well, and spend more time with those who matter the most.
A twenty-two year old man has been charged with second degree murder in his death.
