Residents in the Cariboo Regional District are counting their losses after a wildfire has now claimed several homes.
The devastation continues to mount near Puntzi Lake; a 12-hundred hectare wildfire has now destroyed one resort, two permanent homes, one season home, and multiple outbuildings.
The Cariboo Regional District says in a statement on their website that all the property owners have been notified.
Approximately 50 properties surrounding Puntzi Lake remain on evacuation order and have been since Wednesday.
Residents are hoping with cooler temperatures and rain in the forecast today there will be some reprieve, but with the rain comes scattered thunderstorms which may only hamper fire crews.
The destruction of the nearby homes came on the same day a Fire Boss water bomber crashed while scooping water from the lake.
