Anyone looking to take a break from this intense heat will have no such luck this weekend as temperatures across the Lower Mainland continue to rise.
Global meteorologist Kate Gajdosik says these temperatures are almost 10 degrees hotter than normal for this time of year.
“People are having a hard time acclimatizing to it, and they’ve had to do it kind of in short order because this heat wave moved in very very quickly and intensified over a very short period of time last weekend where we saw temperatures out towards the interior in the 40’s and 41 degrees.”
“We’re looking at almost 30 degrees by the water, and 36 and 37 inland. So this is extreme dangerous heat. But I think we take for granted just the kind of toll that kind of sunchine for as long as it’s up in the sky can take on us.”
Gajdosik says Sunday will be the hottest day of the weekend in Vancouver.
