Delta’s mayor is hoping the extreme fire warning that has much of the province on high alert will send the right message.
Lois Jackson says it’s not a scare tactic or a ploy.
She’s hoping people all across the province will take these warnings seriously, with so many important resources at stake.
“We have Burns Bog here, right in the centre of our community. We are monitoring that very closely. We’re asking all of the people to be very careful with anything they’re doing in and around the watershed areas or bog areas.”
Jackson says people need to stay aware and alert – and that everyone should also be responsible park and wildlife users.
