Following flash flooding from an intense afternoon thunderstorm in Kamloops yesterday, the city has issued an evacuation order and declared a state of local emergency.
It’s for the residents living in the Oakdale Mobile Home Park, Irving Place, Parkview Drive, Rhonmore Crescent, Oak Hills Boulevard, and 24 hundred block of Westsyde Road.
In a release, the City of Kamloops says this is all so proper assessment of damaged properties can take place.
As many as 100 residents of the Oak Hills mobile home park were forced from their home.
Exactly why the water turned into a muddy river and flooded the trailer park specifically is unknown, although early reports suggest a debris dam let loose above a nearby road.
But the city’s Utilities Manager, Mike Firlottee, is blaming a blocked outfall.
No injuries have been reported.
BC Safety Authority will conduct inspections today.
Final clean up is expected to continue in to Thursday.
