The 25 year old man who left an East Van neighborhood on edge after a violent sexual attack in March has pleaded guilty.
Crown Counsel Spokesperson Neil Mackenzie says Caleb Heaton pleaded guilty in Vancouver Provincial Court to aggravated sexual assault, unlawful confinement and break and enter.
Heaton allegedly burst into a woman’s Strathcona apartment, before tying her up, choking and violently raping her.
Neighbours heard screams and rushed to her aid, pinning the suspect down until police arrived.
The terrifying event prompted a community meeting where local met with police.
More than 50-thousand dollars was also raised for the victim.
Crown could now pursue a dangerous offender designation.
Heaton has more than 40 criminal convictions in Ontario.
