The freelance journalist suing John Furlong for defamation faced more intense scrutiny under cross-examination at a Vancouver trial on Thursday.
Laura Robinson was asked why she claims she was “shocked” the angry comments Furlong made about the article she wrote, accusing him of child abuse.
“You knew you would be sued,” lawyer John Hunter said. “Did you expect him to send you flowers?”
“I expected him not to lie,” Robinson replied.
She also continued to deny she targeted Furlong because she had a problem with male authority figures.
Robinson, who’s written several articles about gender inequality, admits she once said, “I will always be critical of male authorities.”
