Surrey Mayor Linda Hepner is suggesting gangsters who show up with various wounds seeking treatment at the local hospital be handed the bill for the care they get.
“To pay for the cost to the system….when they have every opportunity to be cooperative….and to stop the very thing that is happening, so, yeah.”
Following a weekend with more gun violence, Hepner says the city and police are not “loosening their grip on the issue”; it remains a top priority.
And she notes seven arrests have been made and more than fifty charges laid.
Surrey has seen a string of shootings over the last few months in what police call a “low level” drug war involving rival gangs.
