A performance by Jon Bon Jovi this summer at Stanley Park is expected to be the first of many high-profile concerts coming to Vancouver.
The New Jersey-based rock star wasn’t on hand for Friday’s announcement confirming details, but former Vancouver Canucks owner Arthur Griffiths, who’s the concert promoter’s executive producer, says this event has been in the works up to eight months.
“It is the first of a series and certainly the first of a series in Stanley Park, but we intend to take this beyond Vancouver. For now, we will just stick with Jon Bon Jovi because the next time we do a concert, we want to keep you guessing for at least 48 hours.”
The total budget of the August 22 concert, which will also feature the Kings of Suburbia, is $2 million. That includes policing costs, which will be covered by the promoters.
The capacity of the outdoor venue at Brockton Field is 14,000 people..
Tickets officially go on sale June 20, but pre-sales have already begun.
