Canada’s Transport Minister Lisa Raitt says the city of Vancouver won’t be stuck with the clean-up bill for the English Bay fuel spill.
That concern was recently voiced by the mayor and some of his top officials.
“Well, I can give assurance to the mayor and I give assurance to the people who are in Vancouver that is simply not the case. You know, it was a very long time ago that actually the government established a fund that would be there to ensure that people would be paid for claims of marine oil pollution.”
She says the fact the vessel itself has now left English Bay is irrelevant.
