It’s the second accident involving a cab downtown Vancouver in as many days – right in the middle of rush hour.
“It was really busy here. They were parked there and when everybody started taking off that’s when the accident happened.”
Witnesses describe a very busy Georgia street when the accident happened, further snarling traffic.
“The BMW that is on the side there, it looked like he was trying to come into that lane that the cabbie was in. And I heard the crunch and when I looked over both cars were just kind of coming to a stop.”
“I didn’t see whether he was thrown around in the back seat or how that went but… it didn’t look like it was that bad of an accident honestly.”
Yesterday around the same time at Burrard and Melville, a taxi and charter bus collided.
The cab spun, drove up onto the curb and hit a 25-year-old man sitting on the sidewalk.
He was taken to hospital with a serious head injury and is in hospital in stable condition.
