New Westminster Mayor Jonathan Cote has an idea on how to cope with the disruption during construction on the Patullo Bridge, announced yesterday by Translink.
“Well, you know I’d love to see the Provincial Government have a look at reducing the tolls on the Port Mann Bridge during the construction period. I think if we can attract some more traffic to the highway network that is able to handle that excess traffic, you I think there might be some opportunities.”
The seismic upgrades and rehabilitation work to the Bridge work begins midway through next year, and for 18 months all lanes on the bridge will be closed nights and weekends. Big rigs will be banned on the Patullo 24/7.
Truckers will not be getting any break on Port Mann Bridge toll during the work on the Patullo Bridge, so says TI Corporation, that company that runs the new Port Mann.
