Roughly 39 percent of the transit plebiscite ballots mailed out by Elections B-C have been returned and screened.
Don Main with Elections B-C says that’s 616-thousand ballot packages.
“Some that have come in without a signature or without a birthdate we send a notice back to that voter to say that it’s missing that piece of information.”
Main says it is not unusual to have some issues with the ballot mail out and return.
“In the HST referendum which is the last completely vote by mail event that we administered it was about two and a half per cent of the overall ballots received back.”
Voters have until midnight Friday May 15th to call and ask for a voting package if they haven’t already received one.
The voting window closes Friday May 29th with voters having until 8 p.m. to make sure their ballots are returned to Elections BC.
