The City of Maple Ridge is launching a taskforce to deal with homelessness. This after the latest camp at Cliff Avenue has caused concerns for residents.
Mayor Nicole Read says homelessness has been a problem in the community for a long time.
The Camp in Cliff Avenue is only the latest making headlines.
“We pulled up bylaws, so we softened up our process to see what the inevitable result would be if we actually didn’t have bylaws on Cliff Avenue there. And we ended up with a large camp.”
Later this month Read says the task force will launch a street outreach team to hit the pavement to identify problems faced on the streets of Maple Ridge.
