Whatcom County health officials in Washington State are dealing with an E. coli outbreak affecting school children.
While it hasn’t nailed down an exact cause, the Health Department says it has traced it to something at this month’s Milk Makers festival in Lynden, just a few minutes drive from Abbotsford.
It hasn’t said how many children are sick but says about 1000 American school kids attended the festival this month.
Whatcom health officials say E. coli can result in a fever, muscle cramping, vomiting, and diarrhea.
It advises parents to regularily wash their kids hands and keep children at home if they have diarrhea.
In some cases E. coli can lead to kidney failure.
