Some good news for procrastinators – no need to rush to finish your taxes.
Well, at least not yet.
It’s all thanks to human error.
The government has pushed back the tax filing deadline for all Canadians until May 5th.
A notice was sent out, in error, to tax preparers on Friday, saying the deadline had been extended in certain cases.
The Canada Revenue Agency tried to correct the mistake yesterday, saying the regular April 30th deadline is still in effect.
But thanks to all of the confusion, the government has decided to extend the filing due date to May 5th for everyone.
