Friends and family in Vancouver’ Nepalese community are still trying to make contact with some of their loved ones.
Also top of mind – trying to send help to Nepal.
Anil Pradhan, President of Nepal’s Cultural Society of BC says they’re accepting financial donations immediately.
But they are currently facing some long-term logistical challenges.
“It is a huge task for us and as a small community, alone…Board of Directors cannot do it. That’s why we’re planning to organize a few committees – for example, fundraising committees, finance committees.”
Pradhan says they’ll look receiving clothing and personal items later.
Right now they’re also taking their emotions, and using it as a drive to help the people back home.
“Every time you look at the Facebook or you get that phone call…we hear there are aftershocks, we are still scared. It is a difficult time still, but still, we are hoping to get a…little bit of relief”
That’s because of the high need of aid for rescuers and workers on the ground in Nepal.
Below is an appeal from the Nepali Cultural Society of BC – here’s how you can help them out.
