The MV Marathassa ship has been permitted by Transport Canada to return to its operations and leave Canadian waters.
Now that it is environmentally safe to do so according to Transport Canada after their final inspection.
The vessel responsible for the oil spill on English Bay earlier this month departed around 6AM Saturday morning.
In a statement Transport Canada adds although the vessel has been cleared to leave Canadian waters, they’re continuing a thorough investigation into the vessel’s fuel discharges.
If there is sufficient evidence that they broke regulations in the Canada Shipping Act, the polluters could be prosecuted in court or fined.
