A so called star candidate for the BC Green party has pulled out of the nomination race in Vancouver Mt Pleasant.
Matt Toner has decided to step aside and support the only person left running to represent the Greens in Mt Pleasant Pete Fry, son of Liberal MP Hedy Fry.
Green interim leader Adam Olsen says Toner is staying with the party and will run somewhere in 2017.
“He is definitely sticking with the party and we are going to be working together. He will be the party’s finance and new economy critic going forward and is going to support Pete Fry in the nomination that is going to be happening this coming Saturday.”
NDP MLA Jenny Kwan is moving on to federal politics and while she hasn’t vacated her Mt Pleasant seat yet, when she does it should trigger a by-election.
