“We know that negotiations went from 3PM until 1AM in the morning, that which students received an e-mail saying that exams which were scheduled for tomorrow morning would be postponed.”
Capilano University students who expected to begin their exam period tomorrow won’t get the chance until at least Thursday.
Dr. Richard Gale, VP Academic with Capilano expressed hope a deal can still be struck this week.
“I have to have faith the conversation will continue over the next few days and we will reach an agreement that will allow faculty to return to work on Thursday.”
President at the Capilano Student Union Brittany Barnes says the situation has been a confusing one for students.
“There’s so much uncertainty because there is a lack of communication. They don’t know, and there’s no solid or concrete language around that, and that’s where all the frustrations are coming from.”
In an e-mailed statement, Capilano University recognized the uncertainty and concern raised by the current situation, adding their priority is to finalize plans to allow students to complete their academic terms.
