The President of Capilano University’s Student Union says as contract negotiations between faculty and administration falter, the students face an uncertain future.
Brittany Barnes says stress levels have skyrocketed since teachers announced Tuesday they will be withholding marks as part of job action.
Next week classes end, and exams are set to begin.
“Students are feeling penalized in this right because they’re feeling like their grades are being held hostage.”
Barnes says administrators say students won’t be affected because, if necessary, marks to date will be used for a final grade.
But she says that’s cold comfort for students were counting on final projects or exams worth a lot of their final mark.
Both sides are set to meet Tuesday with a mediator.
