The acquittal of a trucker from Ontario who killed a prostitute in Edmonton four years ago is being appealed.
Bradley Barton was charged with first degree murder after the body of Cindy Gladue was found in a bathtub at a motel in 2011.
He was found not guilty last month after a jury believed his claim she died from an injury suffered during consensual rough sex.
Local women’s advocate Marlene George says the 36-year old victim deserved more respect from the judge and jury.
“And that has to end in this country. Accept responsibility and put the blame where it belongs.”
George was speaking at a rally in Vancouver to protest the verdict.
It’s one of many being held across the country.
