The “Yes” versus “No” battle ahead of the transit and transportation referendum is just starting to heat up.
President of the BC Chamber of Commerce, John Winter, says the ‘Yes’ coalition, comprised of business, union and environmental groups, will roll out its campaign “soon.”
“We’ve got a huge group of organizations, over one hundred of them that are part of the yes coalition, and getting all them to buy in, I guess, to the marketing strategy is part of what is taking the time.”
Winter admits the ‘No’ campaign spearheaded by Jordan Bateman and the Canadian Taxpayers’ Federation, is making strides.
“People tend to be losing focus, losing perspective, with what we are really talking about here. We are talking about a standard of living and prosperity as opposed to an emotional issue about Translink.”
Winter says Metro Vancouver needs to invest in transportation, in order to grow businesses and the economy.
