Surrey jail warden leaves post

Vancouver, BC, Canada / (CKNW AM) AM980

BC’s largest jail is getting a new warden.

Staff at the Surrey Pretrial Centre confirm Gordon Davis is no longer in charge, but they won’t say why.

When asked for an explanation, Cindy Rose with the BC Corrections Service sent CKNW the following statement: “Due to privacy laws, BC Corrections is unable comment on an employee’s employment status.”

In February, Davis took part in a ceremony with Attorney General Suzanne Anton celebrating the expansion of the jail, which now holds 216 cells.
