Was the ‘Guarantee’ worth it for the BC Lions?

OOPS!

Well that didn’t go exactly as planned for the BC Lions and now thanks to the 20-16 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on ‘Guaranteed Win Day’, there are now 33196 people who will get a free ticket to an upcoming game…and if you are a Lions fans, you can only hope that the next home game beats this one, because the Lions for the final three quarters proved nothing to nobody…they stank.

The only bright spot for BC was Tim Brown’s punt return TD in the opening 15.  On the offensive side, it was truly offensive…no touchdowns in the air or rushing.

Rushing the ball would have been a novel concept in this one two as Andrew Harris was limited to 11 yards on 8 carries…Stephan Logan had exactly one yard on one carry as the Lions ran just 13 times the whole game…the Riders ran 31 times and balanced their attack…the Leos were awful.

Now halfway thru the season and a pedestrian 5-4 in a powerhouse division, the Lions will get to stew on this loss until September the 5th when they travel to Ottawa…12 days to figure out what happened…it will not be pleasant and changes will come as NFL teams will be making some final cuts in the coming week, which should help all the teams, not just the Lions.

This team needs a wake-up call right now, because the only thing a 10-8 record will get you in November is a good seat in the stands.  The Lions not only need that wake-up call, they need a shower, because the only thing that they have ‘Guaranteed’ themselves right now is the worst record in the West…and that stinks!
