IHIT updates Burnaby and White Rock murders

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says a 22 year old suspect is in custody following last night’s homicide in White Rock.

IHIT says it happened at a home in the 900 block of Ash Street around 7pm.

The victim was a man who died there.

Two women also suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are not saying how the man died, but the suspect was seen throwing objects and knives off a balcony.

He was caught shortly after taking off on foot.

He’s facing a second degree murder charge, as well as two counts of assault causing bodily harm.

IHIT was also called to Burnaby last night.

It has identified the victim of last night’s homicide in Burnaby as a 46 year old man from Alberta.

He was shot near 19th Avenue and 2nd Street shortly before 11pm and died later in hospital.

Police have confirmed he was known to them and this was likely a targeted attack.

The search continues for his killer.
