Doctor gives advice as heat wave poses risk to people in BC

Hot weather means staying cool and hydrated.

Fraser Health’s Medical Officer Doctor Victoria Lee says although everyone needs to protect themselves from over-heating there are some who need to be extra cautious.

“Children, seniors, and people with chronic health conditions are more vulnerable and seniors are more prone to heat stress because older adults tend to not adjust as well to sudden changes in temperature.”

Temperatures are expected to average around 30 degrees for the rest of the weekend and everyone is reminded to stay hydrated and slap that sunscreen on if the UV Index is above three.
