RCMP have released more details about a car crash in South Surrey last night that sent a woman to hospital.

Mounties say the woman was walking along King George Boulevard at 34th Avenue last evening when she was struck by a grey Mercedes.

Witnesses say the driver had tried to pass a car on the right shoulder, but hit an illegally parked car, which had no one inside.

The 66-year-old female pedestrian and her dog were hit as well.

She was flown to hospital in critical condition, while her dog did not survive.

The 17-year-old driver remained at the scene with minor injuries.

Police say she was detained for investigation of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

  1. She was driving under the N designation. One of the rules is that you can have no more than one passenger. She had five. I feel for the pedestrian. Why would you pass another vehicle on the shoulder without knowing why it was stopped? Wouldn’t you have at least slowed down to look? Or was the conversation in the girl’s vehicle too stimulating to bother wondering why?
