About 200 people are stranded after a section of the Squamish River Forest Service Road washed out due to heavy rains.
John Howe with Squamish Search and Rescue tells CKNW the washout where the service road meets Mud Creek happened sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
He says staff from the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, as well as local Mounties and Search and Rescue crews are on scene.
Due to the long weekend, hundreds are camping in the area, and unless they want to trudge through the mud, they’re stuck until sometime tomorrow.
Police are asking anyone who can stay put to do so, in case of another slide.
Washouts are a common occurrence in the area.
