London Drugs has announced it is donating $10,000 to the North Shore Search-and-Rescue team, to help it cope with two thefts of back-country gear this week.

Says the company, “Thank you North Shore Rescue and your team members for your volunteerism, helping people in distress in all kinds of situations and for being there in any emergency.”

The money will be used to replace stretchers, rope rescue gear, tents, and stoves stolen or damaged.

The first incident took place Wednesday in the Hanes Valley on the back side of Grouse Mountain, the second yesterday near Norvan Falls in Lynn Headwaters Park.
