While several people are displaced from their homes in Delta, things could have been much worse according to Delta Fire.

Deputy Chief Ken Sim says the fire appears to have started in a shed between the two single family homes at 46 Avenue and 53rd Street.

“Nobody was hurt but people are displaced. At this point, it hasn’t been determined, the point of origin, but we’ll have fire investigators on the scene.”

Witnesses reported seeing heavy smoke from a distance and Sim says fire crews had to call for extra help in order to put out the blaze.

He says the fire is not being considered suspicious.
