A 16-year-old Nanaimo girl is in hospital with life-threatening stab wounds and a 19-year-old male is police custody after a bloody confrontation early this morning.
RCMP were called to the 3300-block of Fairway Crescent at 12:30am about an assault in progress.
One caller heard a girl yelling for help and saw a male run away.
When officers arrived, they found the girl bleeding from multiple wounds, and paramedics rushed her to hospital.
An hour later Corporal Dean Muir and police dog “Arco” tracked a male on a nearby street where he as arrested.
He’s to appear in court today facing charges of aggravated assault.
Police say the attack was not random and the two individuals knew each other.
