Kevin Wong, CPA, CA, is a Partner and MNP’s Leader for Taxation Services in the Vancouver region. Kevin has more than 19 years of experience providing Canadian income tax compliance and Canadian specialty tax services to private and public corporations.

Working one-on-one with his clients, Kevin assists with tax planning related to corporate reorganizations, sale and purchase of businesses and business combinations. His experience has provided him with in-depth knowledge in the areas of immigration and emigration taxation, as well as in taxation related to mining and exploration, including flow-through share financing. Kevin also designs and implements estate plans that protect wealth for current and future generations.

Kevin received his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation in 1998 after earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Finance from Simon Fraser University. Committed to professional development, he has completed parts I, II and III of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ In-Depth Tax Course, as well as other advanced tax courses. Kevin is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia and the Canadian Tax Foundation and has been a group leader for the CICA In-Depth Tax Course. Kevin has been qualified, and appeared, as an expert witness in the Supreme Court of British Columbia.


Amanjit Lidder, CA, is a Partner in MNP’s Surrey office and the Regional Tax Leader for the Lower Mainland. Am provides a wide range of specialized tax services to small and medium-sized organizations in a variety of industries,
helping her clients pursue attractive tax opportunities.

Working one-on-one with clients, Am delivers strong advice and strategies for corporate and personal tax planning, estate and succession planning and corporate reorganizations, as well as mergers and acquisition planning. She strives to fully understand her clients and their businesses, allowing her to tailor solutions to their unique needs and goals.

Am delivers tax presentations to various client and business groups and has presented at the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ (CICA) National Conference on Income Taxes. In addition to tutoring internal MNP tax courses, she has been a group leader for the CICA In-depth Tax Course, was on the Advisory and Planning Committee for CICA’s National Conference on Income Taxes in 2010 and was also a presenter at the Canadian Tax Foundation’s British Columbia Tax Conference in 2011 and 2013. She is currently on the British Columbia Tax Conference Program Committee and the CICA Income Tax Education Committee. Designated a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 2001, Am received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Northern British Columbia in 1998. She has completed the In-depth Tax Course.


Lachlan MacPherson, CPA, CA, is a Partner with MNP’s Professional Services team in Vancouver, B.C. Lachlan works closely with owner-managed businesses and high net-worth individuals, offering in-depth tax planning, tax preparation, reporting and business consulting to help clients reach their ultimate financial success.

Lachlan brings more than 20 years of experience providing taxation and business advisory expertise to professionals such as doctors, dentists, lawyers and architects, in addition to a wide range of private enterprise clients. He applies his extensive financial experience in tax services to deliver sound advice to his clients.

Lachlan builds close client relationships to provide peace of mind during the various stages of start-up, growth, maturity and eventual exit strategy of their business through to retirement and estate planning.

Lachlan earned his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1991 after receiving his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Calgary. In 1998, he completed CICA’s In-Depth Tax Course.


Katri Ulmonen, CA, CPA (WA), MS (US) Tax is a Partner with MNP’s International Taxation Services practice. Based in Vancouver, Katri specializes in solving complex cross-border tax matters from both Canadian and U.S. perspectives. Katri focuses on cross-border tax planning and delivers thorough compliance advice to a wide range of clients in diverse industries. She consults with Canadian individuals, private and public corporations expanding to the U.S., as well as U.S. individuals and corporations investing in Canada.

Katri has a sub-specialty in cross-border real estate transactional planning and use of partnerships. She is experienced in helping clients with acquisitions of U.S.-based assets from a buyer or seller perspective, including due diligence and structuring to maximize benefits. In addition to assisting clients with their cross-border employment or immigration / emigration needs, she has extensive experience helping her clients to respond to inquiries from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state tax authorities. She prides herself on her ability to stay up-to-date on U.S. tax developments that impact her clients’ unique situations.

Designated a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 1992, Katri has since earned her Masters in U.S. Taxation with Honors from Golden Gate University and her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation from Washington State.


Shane King, CPA, CA, is a Partner with MNP’s Assurance Services group in South Surrey. With more than 20 years of experience Shane provides in-depth audit and business consulting services to owner-managed businesses in various industries including construction, manufacturing, fishing, storage operations and professionals.

Shane has developed areas of specialization that included corporate reorganizations, general estate planning for owner / managers and basic tax research. Shane works closely with his clients t so they develop a solid understanding of their assurance and taxation situations and presents clients with options that will help them achieve their goals.

Shane earned a Financial Management Diploma from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 1992. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) who qualified in 1999 and he has completed the CICA Canadian In-Depth Tax course. Actively involved in his community, Shane volunteers his time to a large number of organizations, and is currently fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society through their Ride 2 Survive campaign.


Ron Batty, CPA, CA, is a Partner with MNP’s Private Enterprise Services group in South Vancouver. Ron serves clients in a variety of industries, including commercial fishing, hospitality, professional sports and broadcasting, real estate and mortgage investment corporations, among others.

With extensive experience in both Canadian and cross-border tax matters, Ron understands and manages a broad range of taxation and accounting issues for his clients, including estate planning, structuring of business acquisition and sales, employee ownership structures, corporate re-organizations and research and development (R&D) incentives. Ron also specializes in Aboriginal tax issues and has been involved in many successful tax appeals and representations with the
Canadian Revenue Agency.

Regarding inbound investments, Ron has advised non-Canadian businesses on a variety of accounting and taxation matters specific to entering Canada. He has also provided tax advice to employee groups being transferred to Canadian divisions.

Ron is a designated Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA). Heearned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (BBA) from Simon Fraser University in 1986. Ron actively volunteers in education and family-based activities in his community.


Jamie Kungel, CPA, CA is a Taxation Specialist and the Regional Tax Leader for MNP’s Vancouver Island region. Splitting his time between MNP’s Nanaimo, Courtenay and Campbell River offices, Jamie specializes in helping clients save taxes through corporate reorganizations, estate planning and succession planning. He works with owner-managed businesses in a diverse range of industries and is the region’s dedicated tax specialist for the construction, real estate and forestry sectors.

With more than a decade of experience, Jamie assists his clients with income splitting structures, minimizing taxes on death and reorganizing companies to transfer future growth to the next generation. He can also help restructure companies to give them access to multiple capital gains exemptions, segregate business assets from inactive assets and make the company as tax-efficient as possible.

Committed to delivering useful and innovative tax ideas that meet client needs, minimize taxes and make good business sense, Jamie takes the time to get to know his clients and their operations in order to provide the right advice and assistance. Grant Bazian, CIRP, Trustee is the President and CEO of MNP’s Insolvency Practice. Based in Vancouver, Grant oversees all areas of MNP’s Corporate and Consumer insolvency services from inception to completion, including bankruptcies, receiverships, proposals, CCAAs, business reviews, viability assessments, liquidations, and agency appointments. He also liaises with all MNP trustees on marketing, professional development, best practices, policies, procedures and expansion.

With over 22 years of experience, Grant has worked on many diverse projects, including forensic accounting engagements, forensic audits, dispute consultation, calculation of business interruption losses and shareholder disputes. He has also worked in a wide variety of industries, including retail, agriculture, forestry, manufacturing, airlines, marine, recreational, trucking, mechanics, home building, contracting, real estate, pharmaceutical, hospitality, entertainment, property management and diamond production.

Grant earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta and an Honours Accounting Diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. He also holds his Trustee’s License and his Canadian Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals designation.


Nancy King, CPA, CA, TEP is an associate in MNP’s South Surrey office. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in public practice, Nancy delivers tax services to personal, trust, and private company clients.

Working closely with her clients, Nancy provides a wide range of specialized tax services to small and medium-sized organizations in a variety of industries, helping her clients to pursue attractive tax opportunities. Sandy Adachi, CPA, CA, CBV, is a Partner with MNP’s Valuation and Litigation services group in South Surrey. With 25 years of experience providing timely advice on personal and corporate income tax matters to shareholders, individuals and private companies, Sandy provides valueadded service to her clients. She works closely with clients in several sectors, including professionals such as dentists and industries such as manufacturing, logistics management, small business and entrepreneurial operations. Sandy’s primary focus is valuations for income tax transactions, estate planning, structuring shareholder agreements, shareholder and marital disputes and shareholder exit planning. Sandy has extensive national and international experience which allows her to recognize risks and opportunities and advise her clients about their options.

Sandy is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) who qualified in 1990. She completed the In-Depth Tax Course in 1993 and in 2012 she gained membership with the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CBV), distinguishing herself by obtaining the highest mark in Canada on the Intermediate Business and Securities Valuations course.
